Business opportunities. Rotary was founded as a business networking group, and this still plays a part in Rotary today. You could be an entrepreneur or a seasoned businessperson. Are you a Rotarian and don't know it? So many people are and do not appreciate this gift, the action of being kind.
During the pandemic people helped out in ways they never thought they would - family friends, neighbours and their local community – they all benefited.
As Rotarians there are the things we strive to do all the time at home and abroad. Here in Stamford we have supported the local food bank, The Evergreen Trust, SHEP and Rutland Sailability among many others
Internationally we have been active in Sri Lanka, helping to fund a Centre for the Handicapped plus an ophthalmic clinic, while in Nepal a financial donation helped the setting up of a medical centre, a school and hopefully another project this year.
So how about joining us to help people at home and abroad?
We are fortunate to have The George Hotel of Stamford as our regular meeting venue. The site of the hotel was set in about 900 AD. but was rebuilt by William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley, in 1597
Stamford Rotary is a lot younger, being founded in 1948. We are a friendly and welcoming club with 30 members drawn from Stamford and the surrounding villages.
We lunch weekly on Wednesdays , except when there is a fifth Wednesday in the month, so on those days we sometimes meet elsewhere - please check with the Secretary to avoid disapointment
